Specialist GRP cover designers AMi Designs continue to super-size their business: their latest Super Sized cover is for a project at the Yorkshire Water Knostrop waste water treatment plant

At the Knostrop waste water treatment plant, a Yorkshire Water facility situated in Leeds, AMi have been appointed to design and supply five tank covers.

Among the challenges AMi had to overcome with the Knostrop project, was to design two large, self-supporting GRP covers measuring 20.5 metres in diameter and fitted to concrete tanks 16 metres high.

Also, another 'local' issue which AMi had to contend with along with their client, were the limitations of very restricted space on-site which complicated the assembly process.

AMi Designs have completed other tank covers as part of the Knostrop project including two very large covers measuring 25.5 metres in diameter, and these are claimed to be the largest self-supporting covers of their type.

AMi Director and qualified engineer Darren Bishop who is leading the project commented, "The Knostrop contract, which is valued at GBP220k, is the latest in a number of new projects we are involved in and underlines our specialist engineering design skills in GRP cover design which have been developed over many years and numerous projects.
